面对用途各异的众多数字货币，缺乏一个合适的命名不仅会引起各界的误读，也会影响和阻碍行业吸引新生力量的加入。因此在2018年年初，以元道，孟岩老师为首的学者们给“Token”这个词起了个全新的名字：“通证”。

“”通证”这个词包含了三个含义：一是其在一定范围内的自由流通；二是其体现了某种共识并具备可信度；三是其具备一定的权益或使用属性，具有价值。
The term “passport” encompasses three meanings: first, its free circulation within a certain range; secondly, its expression of a certain consensus and credibility; and thirdly, its possession of a certain interest or attributes of use and its value.
用通证这个词几乎可以毫无障碍且比较全面地涵盖和解释当今所有基于区块链的各类数字货币。因此，通证这个词开始迅速广泛地传播并流行起来。
The term hyphen can be used to cover and explain virtually all of today’s block-based digital currencies in a fairly comprehensive manner. As a result, the term hyphen is beginning to spread rapidly and widely and popularly.
因为通证具有价值并且具有自由流通的特性，因此在通证所流通的体系内必然伴随价值的转移和流动，这就形成了一个局部的经济体，也就诞生了“通证经济”的提法。
Because of its value and its free circulation characteristics, it is necessary to accompany the transfer and flow of values within the system in which it circulates, creating a local economy and giving birth to the reference to the “passport economy”.
如果用狭义的标准来看待通证经济，每一个基于区块链的数字货币其流通的场景和路径所涉及的交易，集合起来就形成了那个数字货币的通证经济体。因此我们可以说比特币，以太坊，莱特币等这些数字货币每一个就是一个小的通证经济体。
If you look at the mesmerized economy in a narrow sense, each of the transactions involved in the circulation of a digital currency based on a block chain, together form a mesmerized economy of that digital currency. So we can say Bitcoin, Etherno, and Leitco, for example, are a small mesmerized economy.
3. 通证经济的大热

通证经济的提法自从被扩散开来之后，迅速引起了业内外的关注，成为热门话题。但通证经济的大热并不是因为某些数字货币的大热引起的，而是因为越来越多传统行业开始意识到利用通证经济的一些方案和手段可以对其业务进行改造，并极大提升效益。
Since it spread, the reference to the mesmerized economy has quickly attracted both in- and out-of-the-art attention. But the heat of the mesmerized economy is not caused by the heat of some digital currencies, but rather by the growing awareness among traditional industries that some of the programmes and instruments of the mesmerized economy can transform its operations and greatly improve its efficiency.
在这方面，元道和孟岩等先行者进行了大量的研究和推广，并总结了一系列切实可行的方案和模式，使得通证经济不再仅仅是一些概念，而是慢慢发展为一个单独的研究方向而开始落地生根。
