The total amount of Leitco is four times that of Bitcoin, 84 million; its production is reduced by half as much as that of Bitcoin for four years; its consensus mechanism and Bitcoin are the workload certification mechanism (PoW); its block time is 2.5 minutes, one quarter of Bitcoin, and a block is packed every two and a half minutes; and its block reward is as early as 50 Letcoons, and as of now (January 2018) the Lightcoin block is about 25 LEtcoins, with a circulation of about 54 million.

Lightcoin is inspired by the Bitcoin (BTC) and technically has the same rationale for realization, and its creation and transfer are based on an open source encryption agreement that is not regulated by any central agency. Leitco is designed to improve bitcoin, which has three significant differences compared to it. First, the Lightcoin network can handle one block every 2.5 minutes (rather than 10 minutes), thus providing faster confirmation of transactions. Second, the Letco network is expected to produce 84 million Letco, four times more than the amount of currency issued by the Bitcoin network. Third, the Letco used the Scrypt encryption method first proposed by Colin Percival in its workload certificate, which makes it easier to do Letco digging on a regular computer than Bitcoin.

It is based on the Bitcoin agreement, but unlike Bitcoin, even at this stage, it can be “mining” efficiently through consumer-grade hardware. Litecoin provides you with faster transaction confirmation (average of 2.5 minutes), using hard RAM and a certificate of mining workload based on Scrypt (a cryptography algorithm), a common computer and graphic processor (GPU) for most people. The Litecoin network is expected to produce 84 million monetary units.

A point-to-point network similar to Bitcoin, through the Scrypt workload proof programme, handles the transactions, balances and issuance of Lightcoin (a block is created when a small Hashi value is found, and then it is released, and the process of creating it is known as “mining”). The distribution rate of Lightcoin is reduced by half every four years (every 840,000 units) to a total of 84 million LTCs. Unlike Bitcoin, the built-in characteristics of Scrypt make it better “mining” by graphic processors (GPUs). The FPGA (on-site compilation of logical arrays) and ASIC (specialized circuits) implemented for Scrypt are more expensive than the sha256 used in Bitcoin.

At present, it is possible to exchange legal currency as well as bitcoins, mostly via online trading platforms. Revocable transactions (e.g., transactions with credit cards) are generally not used for the purchase of Lightcoins, because they are irreversible and therefore pose a risk of refunds.
